Neoprene - A Chemical With Endless Applications

Neoprene comes from the family of synthetic rubbers through the process of polymerization of Chloroprene which is why it is also called as Polychloroprene. Invented in 1930 and purchased by DuPont, Neoprene in the beginning marketed by DuPont under the name, DuPrene. Although it had fantastic chemical stability, along with maintaining elasticity at a wider temperature range, it was not a commercial success because of the bad odor that the manufacturing process left behind on the material. After seeing such results, the process for developing DuPrene was changed and it resulted in the betterment not only for the product, but also the manufacturing process because the new process halved the costs of production. DuPont then began selling the product to finished end product manufacturers and dropped the name DuPrene giving it a generic name Neoprene since DuPont no longer marketed finished-end products themselves. By the year 1939, Neoprene became a hit and generated large sums of revenue for the company.

Today Neoprene is used in a large variety of applications, from cases in the form of sleeves for laptops, to braces for knees, to electrical insulation and even in belt fans found in cars. Neoprene when foamed is also used as an insulation material in diver wetsuits as well as in packaging to reduce damage and insulate goods and equipment. Having great chemical stability, Neoprene has a wide variety of uses in industrial applications such as manufacturing of corrosion resistant coating, gaskets and hoses. Apart from that it is also used to isolate noise in soundproofing applications.

With its wide variety of uses, the industrial chemical Neoprene sure has a lot of demand today. Global Trust Enterprises, FZCO is an ISO-9001 certified general trading company in the Middle East that deals in the supply of Neoprene and other elastomers along with a whole range of industrial chemicals. Their mission is not only to be a trading organization, but to build relationships based on “Integrity with Performance” having a single minded goal to attain their business objectives.

great work...you have presented the application of neoprene rubber easily..Neoprene is a synthetic rubber that is produced by polymerization of chloroprene. Neoprene is used for fly fishing waders. it provides excellent insulation against cold. now neoprene has become a favorite material for lifestyle in laptop sleeves and remote controls.Yamaha also using neoprene for musical instrument making.
